Who we are

First and foremost we are a team of very motivated staff with Sandy Booth as the Managing Director and John Boyd as the chairman.

The team is a diverse mix of nationalities all of whom have been promoted ‘through the ranks’ and who have mostly been working here for a number of years. Our policy is to identify, encourage and promote talented individuals whenever possible. We use both internal and external training providers to develop the key skills necessary for managing a business of our scale which continues to expand at around 10% per annum. We believe in encouraging our managers to use initiative and give them the appropriate responsibility to use it and make a real difference whenever possible. Sandy runs a flat management profile with his key managers reporting directly to him and pooling ideas and information at informal weekly meetings.

Who we are

Below the top tier of managers we have a team of supervisors and team leaders who manage the 400 staff who are growing, picking and packing the fruit. For this tier of staff it is the 1st step up the management ladder and usually their first experience of real responsibility. As they are recruited from the various nationality groups we employ, there is never a communications barrier to first year staff, and we believe it is reassuring for such staff to have a native speaker as their first point of contact.

Who we are

Last but not least our manual staff are also given a full introduction to the business in their mother tongue, followed by specific hands on training for the jobs they will be assigned to. We aim to ensure that everyone is entirely clear what their task will be and that they turn up for work with the appropriate clothing and refreshments for a full days work.
